Moot Court Society, Sharda School of Law, Sharda University is organizing a specialized workshop titled “Beyond Advocacy: Decoding the Code of Conduct in Mooting” on 24th October 2026, exclusively for first-year BA LLB students.

About the Event

Participating in a moot court competition requires not only comprehensive legal research and sound drafting, but also a thorough grasp of professional courtroom decorum, procedural etiquette, and judicial mannerisms.

This workshop is designed to introduce incoming law students to the fundamental behavioral and procedural standards expected in moot proceedings. Led by a senior student advocate, the session bridges the gap between theoretical classroom learning and the practical protocols of competitive advocacy, preparing participants to present their arguments with confidence, composure, and integrity.

 

  • Target Audience: BA LLB First-Year Students (Sections A and B only)

Key Discussion Areas

  • Courtroom Decorum & Etiquette: Understanding formal mannerisms, professional dress code, and overall conduct inside a moot courtroom.
  • Addressing the Bench: Mastering appropriate modes of address, maintaining composure, and navigating judicial interjections and questioning.
  • Procedural Rules & Time Management: Managing allotted speaking time, coordinate effectively with co-counsel, and handling compendiums or memorial submissions.
  • Ethical Standards: Practical insights into common pitfalls, code of conduct violations, and best practices for moot court competitions

Important Instructions:

  • Attendance is compulsory for all students of BA LLB Sections A and B.
  • Students must be seated in their respective classrooms five minutes prior to their designated session

 

Objectives of Event

  • Familiarize first-year law students with the foundational rules and ethics governing competitive mooting.
  • Cultivate professional communication, poise, and presentation skills suited for formal legal proceedings.
  • Guide students on how to maintain professionalism and deference when interacting with judges and opposing counsel.
  • Encourage active participation in internal and national moot court competitions from the beginning of their law school journey.
