Overview

In the present academic ecosystem, research publications are a crucial indicator of institutional quality, academic credibility, and faculty professional growth. Higher education institutions are increasingly focusing on strengthening research output, publication quality, and global research visibility, particularly in alignment with national quality frameworks such as NAAC.

Disciplines such as Media, Film, Communication, Animation, and Creative Arts present unique challenges in academic publishing due to the comparatively limited number of indexed journals and the evolving nature of practice-based research. Faculty members in these domains often possess strong industry exposure and creative expertise; however, structured training in academic publishing processes, journal selection strategies, manuscript preparation, and research impact measurement is essential to enhance publication outcomes.

Additionally, there is a growing need to create awareness regarding journal indexing databases, ethical publishing practices, collaborative research opportunities, and strategies for improving research metrics such as citations and H-index. Strengthening these areas will contribute significantly to institutional research culture and academic excellence.

Recognizing this need, the School of Media, Film and Entertainment (SSMFE), in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), is organizing a capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping faculty members with practical knowledge and strategies for identifying suitable journals, understanding publication processes, and enhancing research impact. The workshop also contributes to strengthening institutional research output and supports quality enhancement initiatives aligned with NAAC Criteria 3 (Research, Innovations, and Extension).

Objectives of Event

  • To equip scholars with effective research writing skills for publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals.
  • To guide participants in identifying credible, indexed journals (Scopus, Web of Science, etc.) relevant to Media, Film & Entertainment studies.
  • To develop strategic approaches for increasing research quality, visibility, and academic impact through ethical publishing practices.
