Overview

Sharda School of Law, Sharda University is organizing the inaugural ceremony of a career counseling and professional guidance semester series titled, ‘From Practitioner to Professional: Navigating the Nascent Years of the Legal Career’, designed for the 4^th and 5^th year students of BA LL.B (H.) and BBA LL.B (H.).

The said programme focuses on maneuvering through the initial years of the legal profession and the journey from beginning legal practice to developing into a well-rounded legal professional. Through a series of practitioner-led sessions covering litigation, law firm practice, arbitration and ADR, Supreme Court practice, in-house counsel, judiciary, academia, policy, legal-tech, legal entrepreneurship, practice management and professional identity, students will gain practical insights into how different areas of the profession function and what is expected of a young lawyer during the formative years of practice. Besides choosing a career path, the programme seeks to help students understand how practical skills, professional judgment, ethics, communication, client orientation, financial awareness, networking, credibility and continuous learning contribute to the transition from a practitioner to a legal professional.

Objectives of Event

·         To provide practical insights into the different domains of the legal profession that they may choose in the initial years of law practice.

·         To help students understand the journey from beginning legal practice to developing as a well-rounded legal professional.

·         To familiarize students with the skills, expectations and challenges associated with different professional pathways.

·         To facilitate direct interaction with experienced legal practitioners and industry professionals.

·         To develop awareness of professional ethics, networking, practice management and career development.

·         To enable students to make informed and purposeful choices as they enter the legal profession.
