Overview

Sharda School of Law, Sharda University, under the banner of its Pro Bono Club (a wing of the Legal Aid Society), is organising a meaningful community connect visit and need-assessment drive at the Government Juvenile Observation Home, Gautam Buddha Nagar. As part of SSOL’s continued commitment towards community engagement, legal empowerment, and social responsibility, it has adopted the said Observation Home vide letter dated March 8th, 2025. It is hence, imperative to analyse and provide for the needs of the 117 delinquents sheltered there. Our students will accordingly interact with the juveniles of the observation home and conduct a systematic need-assessment survey using structured questionnaires to understand their challenges and requirements.

The visit also aims to sensitise our students about the juvenile justice system and to make valuable contributions towards enhancing the welfare and rehabilitation of these juveniles in conflict with the law.

Objectives of Event

  1. To conduct a comprehensive need assessment of the juveniles residing in the Observation Home in terms of education, health, and vocational training.  (SDG 3, SDG 4)
  2. To raise awareness amongst juveniles about their rights under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and allied laws. (SDG 16)
  3. To promote rehabilitation and reintegration of juveniles into society through suggestions for better educational and skill-development opportunities. (SDG 8, SDG 10)
  4. To strengthen the role of students in contributing towards legal aid, access to justice, and social reintegration processes. (SDG 17)
