Overview

A visit to India Design ID 2026, organized by the Sharda School of Design, one of India’s premier contemporary design exhibitions, which will showcase cutting-edge furniture, interior products, materials, lighting, and spatial installations by leading national and international designers and brands. The visit enabled students to experience current design trends, innovation, craftsmanship, and market-driven design solutions within a professional exhibition environment

And visiting Dastkar, a renowned platform promoting traditional Indian crafts and artisans. Students will get exposure to indigenous textiles, handicrafts, materials, and craft processes directly presented by artisan communities from across India. Students were able to engage with live craft demonstrations, understand material narratives, and observe the socio-cultural contexts of handmade products. The visit served as an immersive learning experience linking design education with craft heritage, sustainability, and cultural identity.

Objectives of Event

 

THE INTENDED OBJECTIVE IS TO :

  • Enhance understanding of traditional Indian crafts, materials, and artisan practices.
  • Develop students’ observational and analytical skills through direct interaction with crafts and craftspeople.
  • Develop a critical understanding of material innovation, form, function, and aesthetics in modern design.
  • Bridge theoretical knowledge of craft studies with real-world applications in design and interiors.
  • Expose students to contemporary trends in furniture, interior, and product design.
