Overview

This course provides an in-depth exploration of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS), encompassing its meaning, nature, and scope. Students will engage with the Vedic corpus and other classical texts, interpreting them through their own perspectives while developing critical thinking skills. The course emphasizes the application of traditional knowledge to contemporary times, encouraging students to relate ancient wisdom to modern challenges and fostering an integrative understanding of knowledge

Objectives of Event

1.   To introduce students to the fundamental principles and introductory aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems.

 

2.   To enable students to interpret select texts from the Vedic corpus, encouraging them to develop their own perspectives

 

3.   To gain insights from Indian Knowledge Systems so as to engage discussions relating to contemporary issues and problems in various fields

 

4.   To foster an integrative understanding of knowledge by relating traditional Indian wisdom to modern challenges, promoting interdisciplinary approaches and innovative solutions.

 

5.   To guide students in evaluating the philosophical, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of ancient Indian texts, providing them with a deeper appreciation of the values and ideas that have shaped Indian thought.

 

6.  To cultivate an appreciation for the ethical and moral dimensions embedded in Indian Knowledge Systems, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of these values in both historical and contemporary contexts.
