Overview

The Department of Biotechnology, SSBT, through its Technical Training Program and Placement Cell (TTP&PC), is organizing an Educational Visit to the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad on 28th February 2026 (Saturday) from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for its first-year students of B.Tech Biotech. and B.Tech Food Process Technology programs. The students shall attend (upon special invitation from RCB to Biotechnology Department, SSBT, Sharda University) the National Science Day-2026, being organised by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, particularly focusing over recent developments in Biotechnology sector and its interdisciplinary areas. The RCB is an autonomous institution of education, training and research established under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and DBT, Govt. of India. The Government of India and UNESCO signed a MoU on 14 July 2006 to establish RCB. The centre is now recognized as a "Category II Centre" by "the principles and guidelines for the establishment and functioning of UNESCO Institutes and Centres". The purpose of this visit is to provide students with exposure to advanced Biotechnology education, training, and interdisciplinary research environments. RCB serves as a premier institute dedicated to Biotechnology research at the interface of multiple disciplines, including science, engineering, medicine, and agriculture. The Centre’s programs are designed to create opportunities for students to engage in multidisciplinary learning, enabling them to understand the integration of Biotechnology with real-world applications in human and animal health, agricultural development, and environmental sustainability.

Objectives of Event

  • To understand multidisciplinary Biotechnology research: To expose students to interdisciplinary Biotechnology research integrating science, engineering, medicine, and agriculture for solving real-world problems.
  • To provide exposure to advanced research facilities and technologies: To familiarize students with modern research platforms such as genomics, proteomics, imaging, and molecular biology facilities available at RCB.
  • To enhance knowledge about Biotechnology education and industrial training programs: To help students learn about higher education opportunities, research training programs, and academic pathways in Biotechnology offered at RCB.
  • To promote scientific research awareness, innovation and industry technical workforce readiness: To motivate students to develop scientific thinking and understand the role of Biotechnology research in improving human health, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. 
  • To understand the role of national research institutions in biotechnology development: To help students learn about the importance of RCB as an Institution of National Importance and its contribution to Biotechnology education, training, and research in India.
