Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SSHSS) has initiatedLet’s talk: A Peer to Peer Counselling Support Initiative for All Sharda students. Our aim is to provide an approachable zone/space to the students to come without inhibition and talk about any concerns bothering them. This may act as a first touch point for a student in distress where their issues/concerns are heard, understood and resolved. Any concern which is not resolved at the peer level will be referred to a Senior Psychologists at Abhivyakti Wellness Clinic.

 

As part of this program, M.A. Clinical & Applied Psychology Trainee-Counsellors are placed as peer counsellors in groups across different Schools of the University under the guidance of faculty supervisors.

 The student trainee-counsellors will provide

•       Structured counselling support, including case history taking, supportive counselling, crisis management.

•       Referral services will be provided for severe concerns to Abhivyakti Wellness Clinic (812B, 8th floor, Block 4) equipped with team of Counselling and Clinical Psychologists; and Psychiatry Department, Sharda Hospital

•       Promote mental health awareness through campaigns and peer-led initiatives.

This initiative will address the need for accessible counselling services within the university community and shall strengthen students’ clinical and counselling training simultaneously.

Objectives of Event

1.To promote mental health awareness among peers through creative and participatory initiatives (SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).

2.To provide students with hands-on experience in peer-to-peer counselling within the university setting (SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).

3.To develop skills in case history taking, supportive counselling, and crisis management. (SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).

4.To enhance students’ ability to identify and differentiate between general and severe mental health concerns. (SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being).
