Overview

The Department of Civil Engineering is organizing an Awareness Talk on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for its undergraduate and postgraduate students. This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals and their critical relevance to civil engineering practice. The talk will highlight the interdisciplinary nature of sustainable development, the role of infrastructure in achieving SDG targets, and how future civil engineers can contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable world.

The session will feature an expert speaker who will share insights on integrating sustainability into engineering education, research, and professional practice. It will also serve as a platform for students to engage in thoughtful discussions on pressing global challenges such as climate change, clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities, and responsible consumption.

Objectives of Event

  1. To familiarize undergraduate and postgraduate students with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and highlight their relevance to the field of civil engineering.

  2. To inspire students to adopt sustainable practices in engineering design, construction, and research by understanding the impact of civil infrastructure on environmental and social well-being.

  3. To encourage critical thinking and student participation in addressing global challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and urban sustainability through innovative engineering solutions.
