Overview

The Classical Dance Society under the aegis of the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare Sharda University, is going to organize the “Indian Folk Dance Competition” on the theme “Bharat Ek: Nav Varsh Anek.”

Objectives of Event

“Bharat Ek: Nav Varsh Anek” reflects the spirit of unity in diversity—one nation celebrating many traditions. Through the medium of folk dance, this competition aims to showcase how different cultures express joy, harmony, and heritage while celebrating the universal feeling of renewal. This event is not merely a competition but a cultural journey that brings together diverse traditions on a single platform, highlighting the beauty of India’s unity through its vibrant expressions.

Guidelines for the Event:

• Participants are allowed in solo or duet performances.
• Permitted dance forms include: Bhangra, Giddha, Jhumar, Luddi, Sammi, Purulia Chhau, Rabindra Nritya, Baul, Santhali, Kirtan, Gambhira, Tusu, Brita, Ghumura, Sambalpuri, Dalkhai, Gotipua, Chhau, Thiruvathirakali, Theyyam, Kummattikali, Pulikali, Oppana, Kaikottikali, Jhijhiya, Jat-Jatin, Sama Chakeva, Domkach, Bihu, Bagurumba, Bhortal, Jhumur, Deodhani, Ghumar, Garba, and other recognized Indian folk dance forms.
• Any dance form outside the above categories is not permitted.

Time Limit:

• Minimum: 2 minutes
• Maximum: 3 minutes
• Exceeding the time limit may lead to negative marking or disqualification.
