Overview
This training programme, organised by Sharda School of Nursing Science and Research, Sharda University, aims to build awareness and practical knowledge of menstrual health and hygiene management among adolescent girls and women. Recognizing that menstrual health remains a neglected area due to persistent social stigma and limited access to accurate information, the programme seeks to empower participants with scientifically grounded knowledge and practical skills.
Through interactive sessions covering menstrual physiology, hygienic practices, safe and environmentally friendly disposal methods, and the de-stigmatization of menstruation-related myths and taboos, the training addresses both the informational and cultural barriers surrounding menstrual health. Special emphasis is placed on fostering open dialogue, correcting misconceptions, and encouraging positive attitudes toward menstruation within families and communities.
By promoting dignity, informed self-care, and improved health-seeking behavior among the target population, the initiative aims to enhance overall reproductive health outcomes and contribute to the well-being of adolescent girls and women in the region, aligning with the university's broader commitment to community health education.
