Overview

World No Smoking Day, observed on 11 March 2026, serves as an important reminder of the harmful effects of tobacco use and the urgent need to promote a tobacco-free society. Tobacco consumption remains a major public health concern worldwide, contributing to numerous life-threatening diseases, including oral cancer, lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and respiratory disorders. Awareness initiatives on this day aim to educate communities, encourage tobacco users to quit, and motivate young individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles.

The program will include a student pledge-taking ceremony, where students of School of Dental Sciences will commit themselves to spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco and supporting tobacco-free initiatives. In addition, a patient awareness talk will be conducted to educate patients and the general public about the harmful consequences of tobacco use, methods for quitting, and the benefits of leading a tobacco-free life.
