Overview

The Center for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Intelligence & Foundations (CAIMIF) at Sharda University announces the Winter School on Knowledge Graphs and the Semantic Web, a 30-hour foundational program introducing participants to key semantic technologies that underpin modern AI. As one of the earliest structured beginner-friendly KG and Semantic Web trainings in India, the Winter School fills a long-standing gap in accessible, high-quality instruction in an area widely taught in leading global institutions but still emerging locally. Designed for learners with no prior background in Semantic Web technologies, the program offers clear, intuitive coverage of core concepts including RDF, ontologies, reasoning, Linked Data, and Knowledge Graphs, technologies central to semantic search, digital assistants, scientific knowledge organization, and enterprise data integration. Participants will benefit from a balanced mix of conceptual lectures, expert sessions from internationally recognized researchers, and hands-on workshops led by industry practitioners. The Winter School also forms the first stage of a two-part learning pathway, followed by an Advanced Summer School focused on applied techniques such as KG construction pipelines, entity linking, ontology learning, embedding’s, and semantic search.

The program consists of

·         12 hours of core 8 tutorials,

·         6 hours of 4 expert talks by leading global researchers, and

·         4 hours of 2 hands-on sessions by industry experts

·         4 hours assignment 1 per week

·         2 hours final evaluation

·         2 hours feedback and closing session

Over five themed weeks, learners will explore Semantic Web fundamentals, ontology engineering, reasoning for knowledge consistency, and introductory Knowledge Graph concepts. They will also write simple SPARQL queries using public datasets such as DBpedia and Wikidata. The final week is dedicated to a practical bootcamp where participants design ontologies, interact with open Knowledge Graphs, and gain exposure to real-world semantic workflows.

Overall, this Winter School offers a strong, future-ready introduction to structured knowledge and semantic technologies. It prepares participants for deeper learning in the Advanced Summer School and opens pathways to diverse academic, research, and industry opportunities.
