Overview

The market visit for material exploration was organized as an experiential learning initiative designed to provide students with firsthand exposure to a diverse range of materials used in design, transit design, and construction. During the visit, students will interact with local vendors, artisans, and suppliers to gain an understanding of material properties, sourcing methods, cost factors, sustainability aspects, and application techniques. This real-world engagement will allow students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical industry insights

Objectives of Event

The intended Objectives are to:

• To familiarize students with various traditional and contemporary materials available in the market.
• To enable students to critically assess materials based on aesthetics, function, cost, and sustainability.
• To enhance students’ understanding of material sourcing, finishes, and fabrication techniques.
• To bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices through direct market interaction.
