Overview

Sharda School of Design is organizing a Guest lecture on “Westernisation,Cultural Identity & Future of Housing in India .The event  examines India’s evolving socio-cultural and architectural landscape, with particular emphasis on housing typologies.

Objectives of Event

  • To introduce students to traditional vernacular housing systems in India and understand the cultural values embedded in these architectural forms.

  • To examine the influence of Westernisation on Indian society and housing patterns, and how it has transformed residential architecture over time.

  • To analyse the relationship between cultural identity and the built environment, highlighting how architecture reflects changing social and cultural practices.

  • To encourage critical thinking about the future of housing in India, focusing on the balance between modern development and preservation of cultural identity.
