31 May is World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). In 2025 WHO and public health champions from across the globe will come together for WNTD to raise awareness about the harmful tactics of the tobacco industry.With the 2025 theme, “Bright Products. Dark Intentions. Unmasking the Appeal,” the focus is on revealing the manipulative marketing tactics of the tobacco and nicotine industries, especially those aimed at young people.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, SDS, SU will organize an oral health awareness camp to educate people about tobacco consumption's ill effects and check their oral health status.

Objectives of Event

1. Raise Awareness of Tobacco’s Impact on Oral Health

Educate the public about how tobacco use leads to oral problems like gum disease, tooth loss, oral cancer, bad breath, and stained teeth.
 
2. Promote Tobacco Cessation
Motivate individuals to quit smoking or chewing tobacco by highlighting the health risks and offering resources for cessation support.
 
3. Screen for Oral Diseases
Offer free oral screenings to detect early signs of tobacco-related oral health problems, especially oral cancer.
 
4. Distribute Oral hygiene aids.
 
5. Encourage Healthy Habits
Advocate for regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene practices, and a tobacco-free lifestyle.
