Overview
The Department of Biotechnology, Sharda School of Bio-Science & Technology (SSBT) is organizing a ‘6-Days International Faculty Development Program’ on “Innovations in Biotechnology for Sustainable Development Goals” from 20 th to 25 th July 2026.
The International Faculty Development Program on “Innovations in Biotechnology for sustainable development goals” is an initiative by the Department of Biotechnology aimed at enriching the academic and professional capabilities of faculty members towards science, technology and sustainability. It intends to explore emerging biotechnological innovations that address global sustainability challenges. The program features expert lectures, interactive discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on advancements in agricultural biotechnology, environmental sustainability, healthcare, bioenergy, food security and industrial biotechnology. The participants will be engaged in collaborative learning and in gaining insights into integrating cutting-edge biotechnological approaches with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering research excellence, innovation, and sustainable societal development. This will help them to gain valuable insights into the latest technology, innovative practices, sustainable approaches and pedagogical strategies to enhance both their research endeavors and classroom understanding, aligning with the objectives of this program.

Objectives of Event
1. To enhance the academic and professional competencies of faculty members by providing comprehensive exposure to recent advances and innovations in biotechnology that contribute to sustainable development.
2. To promote an understanding of the role of biotechnology in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through expert deliberations on agriculture, healthcare, environmental conservation, food security, bioenergy, and industrial biotechnology.
3. To facilitate knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration among academicians, researchers, and industry experts through interactive lectures, discussions, and collaborative learning sessions, thereby fostering innovation and research excellence.
4. To familiarize participants with emerging technologies, sustainable biotechnological practices, and contemporary research methodologies that can be effectively integrated into teaching, research, and extension activities.
5. To strengthen pedagogical and research capabilities of faculty members by equipping them with innovative teaching strategies, technological tools, and practical insights that enhance classroom instruction, research productivity, and societal impact in alignment with sustainable development objectives.
