Overview

The Jaipur Educational Trip is proposed as an experiential learning initiative of the Sharda School of Design, Sharda University. The visit will provide students with direct exposure to Jaipur’s architectural heritage, traditional crafts, textiles, printing, surface ornamentation, local design practices, museums and creative industries. The trip is intended to connect classroom learning with field-based observation, documentation and interaction with artisans, institutions and design practitioners

Objectives of Event

•         To expose students to the historical, cultural and visual heritage of Jaipur.

•         To study traditional Indian textiles, crafts, printing, dyeing, embroidery and surface-design practices.

•         To understand the relationship between craft, material, technique, design and regional identity.

•         To provide first-hand observation of artisan practices, workshops, markets, museums and heritage sites.

•         To encourage students to document traditional techniques through sketches, photographs, notes and material observations.

•         To help students relate field observations to subjects such as textile design, fashion design, visual communication, design history and craft studies.

•         To develop students’ understanding of sustainable, local and culturally rooted design practices.
