Overview

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, School of Dental Sciences, Sharda University, is celebrating National Toothbrushing Day at Setu Siksha Jyoti kendra, a school for underprivileged children with the objective of promoting oral health awareness and encouraging healthy dental hygiene practices among young students.
The programme focuses on educating children about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and preventing common dental diseases, particularly dental caries and gum problems. An interactive oral health awareness session will be conducted using simple language, demonstrations and engaging activities to explain the importance of brushing twice daily, using fluoride toothpaste, maintaining a healthy diet and limiting sugary food consumption.
A live toothbrushing demonstration will be conducted to teach the correct brushing technique, duration and frequency of brushing. The students will also be educated about the importance of regular dental check-ups and avoiding harmful oral hygiene practices.
 

Objectives of Event

1. To create awareness among underprivileged school children about the importance of oral hygiene and its role in maintaining overall health.
2. To educate students about the correct toothbrushing technique, frequency and duration of brushing through practical demonstrations.
3. To promote preventive oral healthcare practices, including the use of fluoride toothpaste, healthy dietary habits and regular dental check-ups.
4. To encourage the adoption of lifelong oral hygiene habits by distributing oral hygiene kits and ensuring equitable access to basic dental health education.
