Overview

The Department of Food Science and Technology, Sharda School of Bio-Sciences & Technology (SSBT) is going to organize an Industry Exposure to Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd., Sonipat, for its 2nd year students of B. Tech in Food Technology on 1st October 2026.

Yakult Danone India (P) Ltd manufactures at an ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001:2007, and is a HACCP-certified factory in Sonepat, Haryana, in North India. The factory is designed according to international standards and special care.

Yakult is a fermented milk drink that contains over 6.5 billion probiotic bacteria - Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota. A delicious probiotic drink that helps improve digestion due to beneficial bacteria. These bacteria reach the intestine alive and suppress the growth of harmful bacteria. Yakult helps to maintain a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria in the gut. This probiotic drink was launched in India in 2007 by the company.

Objectives of Event

  1. Understanding Food Production Processes: To gain practical knowledge of probiotic dairy product manufacturing, including fermentation, processing, bottling, and packaging.
  2. Learning Quality Assurance and Food Safety: To understand the quality control, hygiene, food safety, and quality assurance practices followed in probiotic food production.
  3. Exploring Food Processing Technologies: To observe modern processing, preservation, packaging, storage, and cold-chain technologies used in the food industry.
  4. Bridging Academics with Industry: To connect classroom learning with real-world food industry practices and enhance students’ understanding of industrial operations and career opportunities.
  5. Understanding Sustainable Food Practices: To learn about sustainable production, waste management, energy efficiency, and responsible resource utilization in the food industry.
