Sharda School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Sharda University, is honoured to invite Prof. Dibyabyuti Roy, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultural Studies, University of Leeds, U.K. in collaboration with StudyIn,an overseas education consultancy, for an engaging academic interaction on “Humans of AI: The Pasts, Perils and Promises of ‘Thinking’.” The session will explore the evolving relationship between human cognition and Artificial Intelligence, examining how ideas of “thinking” have developed across history and how AI is reshaping our understanding of intelligence, creativity, and human agency. The interaction will encourage students to critically reflect on the ethical, philosophical, cultural, and societal implications of AI while envisioning responsible and meaningful human–AI futures.

Objectives of Event

  • To introduce students to the evolution of human thinking and the changing understanding of intelligence in the context of Artificial Intelligence.
  • To help students understand how AI systems simulate, interpret, and challenge conventional ideas of human “thinking.”
  • To familiarise students with the historical, philosophical, and cultural dimensions underlying the development of AI.
  • To enable students to critically examine the promises and potential perils of AI in relation to human creativity, decision-making, and agency.
  • To develop students’ critical awareness of the ethical and societal implications of increasingly intelligent AI technologies.
  • To encourage students to reflect on the future relationship between humans and AI and recognise the importance of responsible, human-centred engagement with emerging technologies.
