Overview
Sharda School of Media, Film & Entertainment (SSMFE), Sharda
University, is organising a Two-Day National Conference on “Media
Perspectives on GST Reforms: Empowering Citizens and Enhancing
Public Awareness for Viksit Bharat”, sponsored by the Indian Council
of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education,
Government of India.
The conference aims to examine the pivotal role of media in promoting
public understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, one of
India’s major economic reforms. It will explore how print, broadcast,
digital and social media can simplify complex tax policies, counter
misinformation and promote transparent and citizen-centric
communication.
The conference will bring together policymakers, media professionals,
academicians, economists, industry experts and researchers to deliberate on
innovative communication strategies, data-driven journalism, regional-
language outreach and community engagement for enhancing GST
awareness.
Through keynote lectures, technical sessions, panel discussions and
research paper presentations, the conference seeks to strengthen
collaboration among academia, government and media, promote informed
citizen participation and improve tax literacy in alignment with the vision
of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Objectives of Event
To examine the role of media in enhancing public awareness
and understanding of GST reforms.
To identify effective communication strategies for improving
GST literacy among citizens, entrepreneurs and Micro, Small
and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
To strengthen collaboration between media and policymakers
for transparent and responsible GST communication.
To explore the role of digital media, data journalism and
regional platforms in promoting tax awareness and compliance.
To highlight media-driven initiatives that support GST reforms
and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
