Legal Aid Society, Sharda School of Law, Sharda University is organizing awareness event Samvedna: Awareness, Care & Support for Senior Citizens at Ramlal Old Age Home, Greater Noida on 24th September 2026 with the aim of spreading compassion, supporting senior citizens, and promoting social responsibility among students.
As part of the legal awareness component of the visit, students will also sensitise senior citizens about their legal rights and protections under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
The programme will also discuss the recent Supreme Court judgment on eviction of a child or relative from the property of a senior citizen where there is a breach of the obligation to maintain the senior citizen.
The initiative will also include the distribution of essential items such as clothes, food, and daily-use necessities.
Objectives of Event
• To foster empathy and social responsibility among students towards elderly citizens.
• To provide emotional support and companionship to residents of the old age home.
• To contribute through donation of essential items such as clothes, food, and daily necessities.
• To promote awareness about the rights, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens through Pro Bono outreach initiatives.
• To create awareness about the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, and recent Supreme Court judgment to order eviction of a child or relative in appropriate circumstances.
