Concept Note: In the contemporary academic landscape, research excellence is increasingly
measured not only through publications but also through active participation in conferences,
successful acquisition of research funding, intellectual property generation, and engagement
with national and international academic networks. Institutions of higher education are now
emphasizing diversified research outputs, including funded projects, patents, copyrights, and
scholarly collaborations, in alignment with national quality benchmarks such as NAAC.
Disciplines such as Media, Film, Communication, Animation, and Creative Arts present
distinct opportunities and challenges in this context. While faculty members often possess
rich creative and industry-oriented expertise, there remains a critical need for structured
guidance in identifying relevant conferences and seminars, applying for research grants,
understanding intellectual property rights (IPR), and developing fundable research proposals.
Moreover, awareness regarding government funding bodies, scholarship schemes, project
proposal writing, patent filing processes, and research commercialization is essential for
strengthening both individual academic growth and institutional research capacity. Building
competencies in these areas will significantly enhance research visibility, interdisciplinary
collaboration, and innovation-driven outputs.
The Sharda School of Media, Film and Entertainment (SSMFE), proposes to organize a
capacity-building workshop aimed at equipping faculty members and scholars with practical
knowledge and strategies related to academic events, research funding, IPR and project
development. This initiative aligns with NAAC Criteria 3 (Research, Innovations, and
Extension) and supports the enhancement of institutional research ecosystem.
