Overview
“Legal Drafting in Practice: Skills Every Law Student Must Know” is a practice-oriented expert lecture designed to familiarise law students with the fundamentals and practical dimensions of legal drafting. The session will bridge the gap between theoretical legal knowledge and professional drafting practice, focusing on clarity, precision, structure, legal reasoning, and effective communication. It will also introduce students to the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in legal drafting, while emphasising the importance of human legal judgment, verification, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
Objectives of Event
- To understand the fundamentals of effective legal drafting, including clarity, precision, structure, language, and logical presentation of legal arguments.
- To develop practical drafting skills required for preparing legal documents, pleadings, applications, notices, agreements, and other professional legal documents.
- To enhance students’ ability to translate legal knowledge into effective written documents through appropriate legal reasoning, research, and application of law to facts.
- To familiarise students with the use of AI tools in legal drafting, including AI-assisted research, drafting, editing, summarisation, and identification of relevant legal issues, while recognising the need for human oversight and verification.
- To promote ethical and professional standards in technology-assisted legal drafting, particularly with respect to accuracy, confidentiality, originality, data protection, citation, and responsible use of AI
