Overview
Dept of Public Health Dentistry are organising a Dental Camp for the Transgenders commmunity in observance of Pride Month, aiming to promote equitable access to oral healthcare. The camp will include oral health screenings, personalized dental consultations and treatments with awareness sessions on maintaining good oral hygiene. This initiative hope to reflect the commitment to inclusive healthcare while encouraging preventive dental care and overall well-being among transgender individuals.
Objectives of Event
1. To promote oral health awareness among transgender, gender-diverse, and LGBTQIA+ individuals through education on preventive oral healthcare practices.
2. To identify unmet oral healthcare needs and facilitate timely referrals for comprehensive dental treatment when required.
3. To enhance access to equitable and inclusive oral healthcare services for marginalized and underserved gender-diverse populations.
4. To educate participants about the relationship between oral health and overall well-being, including the impact of tobacco, alcohol, stress, and systemic conditions on oral health.
5. To assess oral health status and treatment needs of the target population for future community-based oral health interventions and research initiatives.
6. To reduce barriers to seeking dental care by creating a safe, respectful, and stigma-free healthcare environment.
7. To disseminate information on oral hygiene practices, including proper toothbrushing techniques, interdental cleaning, and the use of fluoridated products.
8. To promote preventive dentistry through counselling on dietary habits, tobacco cessation, and regular dental check-ups.
9. To strengthen community engagement and advocacy by fostering collaboration between dental professionals, community organizations, and LGBTQIA+ support groups.
