Overview

An expert lecture on “Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)”, by Prof. Rita Singh from University of Delhi, is being organized by the Department of Biotechnology, Sharda University, Greater Noida. The lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of PCOS, a common endocrine disorder affecting women of reproductive age. Prof. Singh will discuss its etiology, including hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance, and genetic predisposition. She will highlight the clinical manifestations such as irregular menstrual cycles, hyperandrogenism, and metabolic complications. Emphasis will also be placed on diagnostic approaches and recent advances in management strategies, including lifestyle interventions, pharmacological treatments, and emerging research directions.

Objectives of Event

The session is expected to be highly informative, enhancing students’ understanding of the biological and clinical aspects of PCOS, and encouraging further exploration in women’s health and endocrinology. The objectives of this guest lecture are;

  • To enhance awareness and understanding of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), including its causes, symptoms, and health implications.
  • To provide knowledge of diagnostic methods and current management strategies, bridging fundamental biological concepts with clinical applications in womens health.
  • To encourage scientific curiosity and research interest among students, while promoting awareness of preventive healthcare and lifestyle management.
