Overview

The Alumni Cell, Sharda University in association with Sharda School of Bio-Science & Technology (SSBT) is organising an alumni guest lecture on 24th March 2026.

Ms. Afreen Tarannum, an accomplished alumna of Sharda University, who completed her B.Sc. in Biotechnology (Class of 2010), will be delivering a guest lecture on the topic “Science of Forensics: Unravelling the Mysteries of Crime” for the current students of the University. Presently serving as Director in the Education Department at Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, she brings with her extensive academic and professional expertise in the interdisciplinary domains of biotechnology and forensic science.

The lecture aims to provide students with valuable insights into the practical applications of biotechnology in modern scientific and forensic investigations. Ms. Afreen will also share her professional journey, highlighting career opportunities, emerging trends, and the evolving role of biotechnology in research and industry.

It will also serve as an interactive platform for knowledge exchange, encouraging students to engage with an experienced professional and gain clarity on higher education and career prospects in the field.

Objectives of Event

 

  • To provide students with practical insights into the applications of biotechnology in the field of forensic science.
  • To familiarize students with emerging trends, technologies, and career opportunities in biotechnology and related interdisciplinary domains.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world professional practices.
  • To inspire and motivate students through the speaker’s academic and professional journey as a successful alumna.
  • To create awareness about higher education and career pathways in biotechnology and forensic science.
  • To encourage interactive learning and facilitate meaningful engagement between students and an industry expert/alumni.
