Overview

The Juvenile Justice Wing of the Pro Bono Club, Legal Aid Society, Sharda School of Law, Sharda University, is organising ‘Colours of Faith: A Celebration of India’s Religious and Cultural Diversity’, for the juvenile delinquents (girls) residing at the (Government) Child Care Institution, Gautam Buddha Nagar, on Monday, August 31^st, 2026, at 2:00 PM. 

The celebration is being organized against the backdrop of the series of Indian festivals beginning with Eid Milad-un-Nabi and concluding with Ganesh Chaturthi! It shall include apprising the delinquents of India’s rich religious and cultural diversity and the significance of festivals in fostering unity, mutual respect, harmony, and a shared sense of national identity under the spirit of unity in diversity.

Objectives of Event

·         To acquaint the juveniles with India’s religious and cultural vibrancy by giving them a detailed narrative and significance of the following festivals – 1. Eid Milad-un-Nabi (August 26^th, 2026) 2. Onam (August 26^th, 2026) 3. Raksha Bandhan (August 28^th, 2026) 4. Janmashtami (September 4^th, 2026) and 5. Ganesh Chaturthi (September 14^th, 2026).

·         To foster amongst the delinquents, respect and harmony for all religions and cultures.

·         To promote inclusivity and an understanding of India’s myriad festivals and traditions.

·         To encourage juveniles to showcase their creativity and ideas through an extempore craft competition relating to any of these festivals.

·         To strengthen collaboration between the Schools’ Legal Aid Society and the Juvenile Observation Home (for girls) in promoting the welfare and rehabilitation of these delinquents.

·         To inculcate empathy, social responsibility, and practical understanding of the juvenile justice system amongst the law students.
