Overview

The visit to the National Commission for Women (NCW) is an academic and experiential learning initiative designed to provide students with first-hand exposure to the functioning of a statutory body dedicated to the protection and promotion of women’s rights in India.

Through participation in the Foundation Day Celebration of NCW, students will gain insights into the role of policy formulation, institutional mechanisms, and governance frameworks in advancing gender justice. The programme offers an opportunity to understand how policy initiatives are conceptualized, implemented, and evaluated at the national level, while also appreciating the intersection of law, public policy, and social justice.

The visit aims to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical governance by enabling students to observe institutional practices, interact with policy narratives, and reflect on contemporary challenges related to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

Objectives of Event

  • To familiarize students with the role, mandate, and functioning of the National Commission for Women.
  • To provide insights into policy formulation and implementation concerning women’s rights and gender justice.
  • To enhance students’ understanding of institutional mechanisms and governance structures working towards women’s empowerment.
  • To encourage critical engagement with gender justice issues from a legal and public policy perspective.
  • To promote experiential learning by exposing students to real-world policy initiatives and institutional practices.
