Overview

The event is being organised to develop robust understanding of community engagement

and participation of the students in collaboration with one of the well-recognised NGO

“Goonj”.

Community Connect of Sharda University also focus on to rejuvenate and empower

urban/rural people living at margins in society, where we give them a helping hand by

providing solutions of regular obstacles of life in fast paced urban surrounding of Greater

NOIDA.

The owner of the organisation, Anshu Gupta is an Indian Social Entrepreneur, Magsaysay

Awardee and popularly known as Clothing Man. for his work on transforming the culture of

giving in India and for highlighting material as a sustainable development resource for the

socioeconomically disadvantaged.Goonj has built a network of communities from urban to

village India, channelizing material as a tool to address crucial gaps in rural infrastructure,

water, environment, livelihood, education, health, disaster relief and rehabilitation.

The Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences with an aim to involve students

consistently in community development and to understand the value of community

development for holistic upliftment of the people who need support from more privileged

section of the society

Objectives of Event

Students will gain exposure to community work under the mentorship of SSHSS, Sharda

University, and will develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of community

engagement through interaction with the team at Goonj.

Another key objective is to instill in students an appreciation of the long-term impact of

community service, motivating them to continue serving society in the future.

Through this initiative, students will aim to support and assist communities in meaningful and

sustainable ways.
