Overview
In pursuance to the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India dated 08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No. 887 /2009, the UGC has notified "Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009". These Regulations are mandatory and are to be strictly adhered to by all Institutions.
As per the UGC regulations, to avoid Ragging in the Colleges/Departments/ Hostels/Halls for the coming session, the Anti-Ragging Committee in association with the DSW team is organising following events to observe Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August, 2025 and also Anti-Ragging week during 12-18 August, 2025 for a general awareness of this highly offensive and sensitive issue and also its adverse consequences among all the students:

Objectives of Event
Ensure a Safe & Respectful Environment
To create and maintain a campus atmosphere where students feel secure, respected, and free from fear or any kind of harassment.
Prevent Physical & Mental Harm
To stop any acts of physical abuse, verbal insults, psychological pressure, or humiliation of students, especially the newcomers.
Promote Healthy Peer Interaction
To encourage friendly relationships between senior and junior students through positive activities, not intimidation or dominance.
Uphold Students’ Rights & Dignity
To protect the rights, dignity, and self-esteem of all students, ensuring no one is subjected to degrading treatment.
Raise Awareness about Laws & Policies
To inform students about the legal consequences of ragging as per UGC regulations and the Anti–Ragging Act, and make them aware of complaint mechanisms.
Foster a Culture of Zero Tolerance
To send a strong message that ragging in any form will not be tolerated and will invite strict disciplinary and legal action.
Support Victims & Encourage Reporting
To provide a safe platform for students to report incidents without fear of retaliation, and to offer counselling and support services.
