Overview

Department of Mathematics, Sharda School of Basic Sciences & Research, Sharda University, Gr. Noida is celebrating National Mathematics Day 2024 (the 137th Birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan). On this occasion, a brief talk on Modular Relationships for the Rogers-Ramanujan Type Functions of Order Fourteen with Applications to Partitionsis scheduled.

 

National Mathematics Day: It is celebrated on 22nd December every year to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Indian Mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. Since ancient times various scholars have made significant contributions to Mathematics including Aryabhata, Brahma Gupta, Mahavira, Bhaskar II, Srinivasa Ramanujan, etc. At a very young age, Srinivasa Ramanujan showed the signs of an unfolding genius, and his contributions regarding fractions, infinite series, Number theory, Mathematical analysis, etc. set an example in Mathematics.

Prof. (Dr.) M. P. Chaudhary

Prof. M. P. Chaudhary has done his graduation and post-graduation from University of Gorakhpur. He initiated his research career at the University of Delhi and conducted his research works at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, further conducted his advanced research work at the external research center supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.  Prof. Chaudhary is currently working in the research areas of Number Theory especially the fields of interest to the famous genius and Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan FRS.

 

Prof. Chaudharyat various points in his career has visited for academic and research purposes to several well-known institutions of different countries namely Franklin & Marshall College (USA); the Pennsylvania State University (USA); Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Switzerland), etc. He has served as an observer for the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India, New Delhi.

 

Prof. Chaudhary has more than 325 publications to his credits at both national and international levels, and more than 40 books for educational and scientific development, biographies of several eminent scientists and mathematicians, social issues, etc.

 

Recently, Prof. Chaudhary has been offered for Advisor position at a constituent unit (related to Educational Planning and Administration) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, New Delhi, India; and Visiting Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, USA.

Objectives of Event

The main objective behind the celebration of National Mathematics Day is to raise awareness among people about the importance of Mathematics for the development of humanity. We can't ignore that several initiatives are taken to motivate, enthuse, and inculcate a positive attitude towards learning Mathematics among the younger generation of the country.

 

Objectives:

  • To create awareness about the various ancient Indian Mathematicians.
  • To learn from the life and work experiences of Srinivasa Ramanujan.
  • To create interest in Ramanujan Mathematics.
  • To motivate young students and scholars towards quality research.
