Overview

The Department of Sociology, Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SSHSS), Sharda University, has organized a one-day field visit to Jamalpur village on March 11, 2025, from 8:35 AM to 5:00 PM. As part of their coursework, sociology students will gain firsthand experience in rural settings, making this visit an essential component of their academic journey. Faculty members will guide and assist students in their interactions and data collection.

The visit aims to provide students with an opportunity to understand the real-life challenges of villagers and the functioning of local political and social institutions.

The primary objective of the visit is to enable students to observe, interact, and engage with the local community, and enhancing their practical knowledge. Through direct engagement, students will explore various social issues faced by villagers in their daily lives, such as:

  • Socio-economic conditions
  • Employment opportunities and skill development
  • Gender inequality and social justice
  • Access to healthcare and education

By covering these core aspects, the visit will help students bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical fieldwork.

Objectives of Event

  • Understanding grassroots issues such as rural healthcare, socio-economic conditions, gender inequality, and the role of digital technology.
  • Assessing the implementation of government schemes like MGNREGA, PDS, Rural Health Missions, and other social security programs in the village.
  • Exploring traditional social institutions, including village panchayats, caste dynamics, and kinship systems, and their influence on daily life.
