Overview
Holi, the festival of colors, symbolizes joy, togetherness, and the triumph of good over evil. To spread the festive spirit and bring happiness to the elderly residents of Ramlal Old Age Home, the students of the School of Education, Sharda University, propose a Holi celebration. This event aims to foster intergenerational bonding, promote social responsibility, and create a joyful experience for all.
Organizing an awareness event on social issues during Holi at an old age home can be a meaningful and enriching experience for both the elderly residents and the participants.
Objectives of Event
- To celebrate Holi with the elderly residents and create a memorable experience for them.
- To promote social interaction and emotional well-being among the elderly.
- To encourage students to engage in community service and develop empathy.
- To enhance the cultural understanding of Holi through music, dance, and storytelling.
Proposed Activities
- Welcome and Introduction: A warm welcome address by students, introducing the purpose of the event.
- Organic Colors and Floral Holi: Celebrating with natural colors and flower petals to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Cultural Performances: Dance, music, and poetry recitations by students and elderly residents.
- Interactive Sessions: Storytelling and experience-sharing between students and the elderly.
- Elderly Care & Respect – Promoting awareness about the challenges faced by senior citizens and the importance of respecting and caring for them.
- Mental Health & Companionship – Discussing loneliness among the elderly and ways to support them emotionally.
- Lunch: Distribution of Lunch for the elderly people.
- Photo Session: Capturing joyful moments to create lasting memories.
