Overview

Sharda School of Nursing Science & Research, Sharda University is organizing a ONE DAY workshop on pediatric advanced life support (PALS). This algorithm is given by American Heart Association for healthcare providers who are directly involved in taking care of children and infants in emergency rooms, critical care and intensive care units in hospitals. PALS  is most commonly given when heart stops working and blood stops moving throughout the body. In infants and children, cardiac arrest is typically caused by hypoxic/asphyxial arrest and less commonly by sudden cardiac arrest due to heart problems or arrhythmias. In adults, cardiac arrest is usually caused by heart problems such as acute coronary syndrome. Hypoxic/asphyxial cardiac arrest is a result of progressive respiratory failure and/or shock. For this reason, it is important to treat respiratory failure and shock early so that they don't progress to cardiac arrest

Objectives of Event

  • To raise awareness about the importance of pediatric advanced life support among  healthcare providers
  • To educate about initial assessment and diagnoses of life threatening conditions that causes cardiac arrest and interventions to treat them
  • To improve outcomes for children by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize respiratory emergencies, shock etc.
  • To equip healthcare providers with deeper understanding and enabling them to respond appropriately in critical situations.
