Overview

Sharda School of Nursing Science & Research is celebrating Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony on the occasion of International Nurses Day to instill professional ethics to become better future nurses. Light, as a symbol of knowledge, removes ignorance and is a lasting wealth by which lots could be achieved. The “Lamp Lighting Ceremony and Oath Taking Ceremony” formally recognizes the student’s entry into the nursing profession. This tradition commemorates the heroine of nursing, Florence Nightingale, who was seen in the dark alleys with a lamp while caring for the injured soldiers of the Crimean War. The lamp symbolizes the light that a nurse becomes to her patients and as a symbol of hope and comfort to those who are suffering. Fresher light this lamp as a commitment and they recite the Nurses' pledge of service.
