Overview
SSBSR, SSBS, and SSET in collaboration with JMP Global Academic Team organize a One-Day Workshop on “Enabling Statistical Discovery for Teaching and Research”
JMP (pronounced "jump") is a suite of computer programs for statistical analysis and machine learning developed by JMP, a subsidiary of SAS Institute.
The software is focused on exploratory visual analytics, where users investigate and explore data. It also supports verifying these explorations by hypothesis testing, data mining, or other analytic methods. Discoveries made using JMP's analytical tools are commonly applied for experimental design.
JMP is used in applications such as data mining, Six Sigma, quality control, design of experiments (DoE), and research in science, engineering, and social sciences.
Workshop Plan:
Session 1 (9:30 am to 11:00 am): Introduction to Statistical Discovery & Data visualization
Provide an overview of statistical concepts and their importance in academia. Key features for data visualization and statistical analysis. Interactive data exploration. Hands-on exercises
Session 2 (11:30 am to 01:00 pm): Predictive Modeling and Machine Learning (ML)
Understand and apply predictive modeling and Machine learning techniques, Importance of Deep learning in research
Session 3 (2:00 am to 3:30 pm): Statistical Techniques for Process and Experimental Discovery
Familiarize various statistical techniques for teaching and research: Multivariate Techniques, Design of Experiments, Quality Six Sigma, Reliability
Use cases and applications in various engineering, management, and scientific domains
Resources for learning, Discussions and wrap up.
