Sharda School of Nursing Science and Research In Collaboration with NSS and DSW, Sharda University on 14th November, 2024 the Theme of the Event –“Diabetes and well-being”
This event aims to raise public awareness about the severe health, social, and economic impacts of diabetes, as well as the ongoing efforts to reduce its global burden.
World Diabetes Day, observed annually on November 14th, is a global awareness campaign focused on diabetes and its impact on millions worldwide. Established by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1991, this day serves as a platform to inform the public about diabetes prevention, early diagnosis, and effective management. Each year, World Diabetes Day highlights a specific theme—often addressing key aspects such as healthy lifestyle, equitable access to care, and the role of healthcare providers. Through various events, campaigns, and screenings, World Diabetes Day fosters a collective effort to combat the rise of diabetes and supports initiatives aimed at reducing the global prevalence of this chronic condition.
Objectives of Event
- To Increase Awareness about Diabetes by educating community members about the causes, symptoms, and complications of diabetes to foster early recognition and timely action.
- To Promote Healthy Lifestyle Choices by Encouraging community people to the adoption of healthier lifestyles by organizing community-based activities such as Awareness rally , Skit on diabetic prevention and health education
- To Facilitate Free Screening by Offering free blood glucose screenings and risk assessments at Health camp to help identify individuals at risk or in need of further follow-up.
- To Establish peer support groups and networks to provide a sense of community and shared experience for individuals living with diabetes and their families.
