Overview
Sharda School of Nursing Science and Research (SSNSR), Sharda University is organizing an event celebrating the World Breastfeeding Week on the theme Closing the gap: Breastfeeding support for All.
World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is an annual observance held from August 1st to August 7th each year. It is coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), a global network of individuals and organizations dedicated to protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding worldwide.
It highlights the need for robust support systems, including community, workplace, and policy-level interventions, to empower and enable mothers to breastfeed effectively. By emphasizing the critical role of breastfeeding in promoting better health outcomes, reducing healthcare costs, and contributing to sustainable development goals, this week also provides essential education and dispels myths surrounding breastfeeding. Furthermore, it advocates for women's rights and supports gender equality, ensuring that mothers can make informed choices and receive the support they need to breastfeed in various environments. Overall, Breastfeeding Week is a vital initiative that fosters a supportive culture and reinforces the global commitment to improving maternal and child health.
