Overview

In accordance with the New Educational Policy (NEP)-2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) emphasized that an internship of 60 to 120 hours duration (2-4 credits) after 4th semester will be mandatory for the students enrolled in UG degree programmes. It is emphasized that each undergraduate student must complete the internship after the 4th semester of the UG degree programme and 2nd semester of PG degree programme focusing on Hands-on Training/Short Research Project.

In this regard, Abhivyakti Wellness Clinic, Sharda School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Sharda University in collaboration with Dept. of Psychiatry, Sharda Hospital have started a 60-hour (5 week) internship programme for B.A as well as for M.A Psychology students. During the internship programme, students will explore and participate in various learning activities, case observations, assessment and psychiatry case history taking, and will have opportunity to learn about psycho-diagnostics. The internees will be provided guidance based one-to-one supervision from the experts from Psychology department from Sharda University and Psychiatry department of Sharda Hospital.

Objectives of Event

  • The intern would be able to integrate the classroom learning to the applied settings.
  • Be able to develop skills for handling various clinical and non-clinical cases, will become more confident in clinical settings.
  • Be better able to judge diverse patient diagnoses and plan treatment.
  • Learn the basics and intricacies of psychotherapy and psychological assessment.
  • Receive training in terms of relating to the patients and becoming groomed in professional conduct.
