Overview
The Psychological Counselling Cell at Sharda University is organizing an event on Suicide Prevention Awareness Day, aimed at addressing the critical issue of student mental health by raising awareness about suicide prevention and promoting mental wellness. The event will feature activities, interactive sessions, and counseling initiatives designed to help students recognize signs of distress in themselves and others, while encouraging help-seeking behavior.
Objectives of Event
- Raise Awareness: Increase understanding of the prevalence, causes, and warning signs of suicidal behaviour among university students.
- Reduce Stigma: Promote open discussions on mental health and break the stigma associated with seeking help for emotional distress and suicidal thoughts.
- Educate and Empower: Equip students with knowledge about mental health resources, coping strategies, and peer support to help prevent suicide and provide emotional support to others.
- Promote Help-Seeking: Encourage students to utilize on-campus counselling services and external resources for professional mental health support.
- Foster a Supportive Community: Create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel supported and connected, fostering a culture of empathy, listening, and peer support.
