Overview

Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences is delighted to host a pre-conference workshop on “Fundamentals of Somatic Psychotherapy.” This workshop serves as a precursor to the International Conference on Science and Spirituality, scheduled from February 27th to March 1st, 2025. Designed as an academic initiative, the session will introduce participants to the core principles and practices of Somatic Psychotherapy—an approach that integrates the mind and body to address psychological and emotional challenges. The workshop will provide a foundational understanding of how bodily sensations, movement, and nervous system regulation contribute to emotional well-being.

Objectives of Event

  1. Understanding the Mind-Body Connection – Explore how psychological trauma and stress manifest in the body.
  2. Principles of Somatic Psychotherapy – Learn the fundamental concepts, including body awareness, regulation of emotions, and trauma healing.
  3. Introduction to Techniques – Experience practical exercises like breathwork, grounding, and movement-based interventions.
  4. Neuroscience of Somatics– Gain insights into how the nervous system responds to stress and how somatic approaches promote healing.
  5. Applications in Therapy – Understand how somatic psychotherapy can be integrated into various therapeutic modalities for treating anxiety, PTSD, and other emotional conditions.
