Overview

The event is being organised to develop robust understanding of community engagement and participation of the students in collaboration with one of the well-recognised NGO “Goonj”.

Community Connect of Sharda University also focus on to rejuvenate and empower rural community, where we give them a helping hand by providing solutions of regular obstacles of life in fast paced urban surrounding of Greater NOIDA.

The owner of the organisation, Anshu Gupta is an Indian Social Entrepreneur, awarded Magsaysay Award for his work on transforming the culture of giving in India and for highlighting material as a sustainable development resource for the socioeconomically disadvantaged. Popularly known as the Clothing Man, Anshu founded Goonj, offering a sustainable economic model for eliminating poverty and related issues. Under his leadership, Goonj created a barter between urban surplus and village communities labor, triggering large scale rural development work. Goonj has built a network of communities from urban to village India, channelizing material as a tool to address crucial gaps in rural infrastructure, water, environment, livelihood, education, health, disaster relief and rehabilitation.

This is what Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences’ students now want to be a bridge between these two part of the societies while connecting with the communities of Surajpur and Habibpur rural areas of Greater NOIDA.
