Workshop on: Hands-on Training Program on Management of Obstetrical Emergencies and New-born Care @ SHARDA SSNSR
Oct 14 @ 1:00 pm – Oct 18 @ 4:30 pm

Sharda School of Nursing Science and Research is organizing workshop hand on training program on management of obstetrical emergencies and newborn care from 14th October to 18th October.

About the topic

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 800 women die each day from preventable pregnancy and delivery-related causes. Ninety-nine percent of maternal deaths occur in developing countries. There are a number of factors limiting access to high-quality care that would reduce this mortality to a more acceptable level; these include limited family resources, living far from a healthcare facility, and the lack of a reliable system of transportation. Timing is critical in preventing maternal death and disability. Although post-partum hemorrhage can kill a woman in less than two hours, for most other complications, a woman has between six and 12 hours or more to get life-saving emergency care. Similarly, most perinatal deaths occur around delivery or in the first 48 hours afterward. The first four weeks of the life of an infant are considered the neonatal period. During this period many complex physiologic changes occur, and the infant interacts with the different stimuli. Care during this period should be continuous and effective. Newborn care consists of evaluation for the need for resuscitation, a complete physical exam, administration of prophylactic medications and vaccines, adequate feedings, safe sleep, hygiene of the newborn, and other important areas for baby wellbeing.

Objective

  • To Exhibit the techniques of infection control measures for preventing the spread of infection.
  • To show an antenatal assessment of pregnant women and recognize pregnancies at risk.
  • To demonstrate the birthing process and episiotomy suturing.
  • To illustrate and demonstrate skills related to newborn care (ENBC, New-born Resuscitation).
  • To demonstrate the techniques for insertion and removal of PPIUCD.
  • To exemplify placental examination and care of the perineal area.
  • To illustrate steps to detect PPH and degree of shock and describe strategies for prevention and management of PPH and Shock.
  • To Demonstrate regarding PNC Examination
