SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT -FINANCIAL LITERACY

India under the G20 presidency has called for a focus on inclusive agenda keeping the vulnerable citizens in mind. The skill development project- Financial Literacy undertaken by Sharda School of Business Studies (SSBS) embodies the same spirit and seeks to spread financial literacy among the under privileged communities. The knowledge of how to spend, save and borrow, how to invest and accumulate wealth etc are skill sets that needs to be developed among them so as to empower them to make smart and effective financial decisions as well as protect their consumer rights.

This Skill Development Project on Financial Literacy for the underprivileged communities would be undertaken during the period of February -March 2023.

The objective of the project are to enable underprivileged communities:

  1. To make appropriate financial decisions about investing, saving, managing debts, child education etc.
  2. To educate them about the use of financial principles as a key to breaking the cycles of debt
  3. To acquire Life skills alongside financial principles: How to access banking services, repay loans responsibly, and planning skills, such as how to create investment and savings plans for their families.

Department of OphthalmologySchool of Medical Sciences and Research is organizing various activities on the occasion of “Glaucoma Awareness week” from 12th March to 18th March 2023.

Glaucoma is a term used to describe a group of diseases of the eye characterized by progressive and irreversible damage to the optic nerve (nerve of the eye responsible for vision) and if untreated can lead to irreversible blindness. Glaucoma is a silent thief of sight.

In India, Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness and more than 90% of cases remain undiagnosed in the community. Early detection is the key to slowing progression of Glaucoma for which regular eye tests are the only way to detect the ‘Symptomless’ Glaucoma. At a later stage, it becomes irreversible and results in permanent blindness.

Event Objectives are:

  • To create mass public awareness about Glaucoma
  • To motivate people to get regular eye checkup and glaucoma screening especially those who are 40 years and above

Extention Activity for Creating Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene @ Sharda University campus

Inadequate menstrual hygiene as a result of a lack of knowledge, persistent taboos and stigma, restricted availability to clean menstruation products, and inadequate sanitation infrastructure jeopardizes the educational possibilities, health, and general social standing of women and girls worldwide. As a result, millions of women and girls are denied the opportunity to fulfill their full potential.

As the women’s weak is approaching, the Internal quality assurance cell (IQAC) is organizing a social activity of distributing free sanitary supplies to the labor class or the unprivileged women who work in Sharda or on the premises of Sharda, to make them aware of menstrual hygiene.

About the topic:

International women’s day is celebrated annually on the 8th of March with a need-based theme. IN 1910, a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. A woman named Clara Zetkin (She was the Leader of the ‘Women’s Office’ for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women’s Day. She proposed that every year there should be a celebration on the same day in every country as International Women’s Day. The suggestion received unanimous approval and thus International Women’s Day was instituted and the day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations in 1975.

The theme of this year is embrace equality, with this theme, we are looking for a world free of bias, stereotypes, discrimination, Violence, Physical and mental Abuse by promoting Gender equality, Equity, reproductive rights, and women empowerment.

On this day we are going to celebrate the women in our lives and acknowledge their contribution to the world. It is not just about celebration it is also about looking at the role of women in our society and world. We are also promoting a community where difference is valued and celebrated. To achieve the goal of International women’s day, together we can forge women’s equality and Collectively we can all Embrace Equity

Sharda School of Nursing Science is Organizing the “National Vaccination Day” which will be conducted on 16th March 2023, at Panchayatan Village, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh” Greater Noida, U.P. The event will emphasize the theme “IMMUNIZATION: THE POWER TO PROTECT!”. The Government of India observes 16th March as National Vaccination Day to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work of frontline health care workers to ensure the vaccination of every child. India has made remarkable progress in scaling up routine immunization through intensified vaccination drives. The country is moving towards measles and rubella elimination through the vaccination of over 324 million children between 2017 and 2020 through MR vaccination campaigns. This day conveys the importance of vaccination and its role in public health. On this day in 1995, the first dose of the oral polio vaccine was given in India. Vaccination or immunization is the most effective prevention method of highly infectious diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), “immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eliminating life-threatening infectious diseases.” Vaccination is crucial to improving public health and life expectancy standards and elevating social and economic impact at the community and national levels. The day is all about sharing the message that vaccination saves lives and is important, even today.
