English Programme of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences is organizing HUMAYUN TOMB VIS-IT-2023 as a part of its educational/cultural excursion activities: EXPLORING HERITAGE for students of Certificate of Proficiency in English on March 27, 2023.

Such visits play a crucial role in preserving local culture. With careful documentation a culture can be recorded and remembered regardless of its future. It can also be shared and understood by those from different cultural backgrounds. Heritages are the best place to explore our heritage and to understand History in better and practical way. Humayun’s Tomb stands within a complex of 27.04 ha. that includes other contemporary, 16th century Mughal garden-tombs such as Nila Gumbad, Isa Khan, Bu Halima, Afsarwala, Barber’s Tomb and the complex where the craftsmen employed for the Building of Humayun’s Tomb stayed, the Arab Serai. Humayun’s Tomb was built in the 1560’s, with the patronage of Humayun’s son, the great Emperor Akbar. Persian and Indian craftsmen worked together to build the garden-tomb, far grander than any tomb built before in the Islamic world. This visit will enlighten our students about the significance of the objects in respect of history, culture and artistic excellence and achievements as these collections serve as epitome of national identity.
