As part of Community Connect, Sharda School of Law is organizing a visit to the Juvenile Observation Home, Gautam Budh Nagar, U.P. on Wednesday, 30th November 2022, 10:30 am onwards.

Juvenile Observation Home is a place where juvenile delinquents are kept as part of correctional mechanism under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015. The visit shall provide an opportunity to students to get practical experience of the conditions of juvenile delinquents in the Observation Home. The students will be able to observe that whether the authorities are following the requirements under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015 and other Rules and Guidelines with regard to juvenile delinquents inside the Observation Home. The visit shall also provide a chance to juveniles residing inside the Observation Home to interact with law students and share important details with them. In this way this Community Connect Visit shall be beneficial to both the law students and juvenile delinquents.

Objectives of the Visit:

  • To provide opportunity to law students to have experiential learning.
  • To inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the community.
  • To provide an opportunity to juvenile delinquents to discuss their circumstances with law students.
  • To come up with solutions to problems faced by juveniles kept inside Observation Home.
  • To acquaint students with practical aspects of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015.

Expected Outcomes:

After the visit the students shall be able to:

  • Understand the actual working of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015.
  • Understand the problems faced by juveniles residing inside the Observation Home.

Sharda School of Nursing Science And Research is organizing  World AIDS Day on theme “Equalize”.  It encourages people to unite globally to eliminate the disparities and inequities that create barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and access to HIV care. First observed in 1988, World AIDS Day is a day to unite to help end HIV and remember those lost to AIDS-related illnesses.

World AIDS Day remains as relevant today as it’s always been, reminding people and governments that HIV has not gone away. There is still a critical need for increased funding for the AIDS response, to increase awareness of the impact of HIV on people’s lives, to end stigma and discrimination and to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV.

The School of Education, Sharda University is proposing a One Day Workshop on ‘Gender Sensitization through awareness regarding SEXUAL HARASSMENT OF WOMEN AT WORKPLACE (PREVENTION, PROHIBITION AND REDRESSAL) ACT, 2013’

Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the subsequent Rules have been framed and put to operations on 9th December, 2013. However, the effective use of this legislation is possible only through awareness generations among the masses. A large chunk of Government work force is still in the dark about the provisions and effectiveness of the statute. Regular training programmes will create awareness among the people. HR Managers also need to be trained to be responsible for sensitizing all the employees about the fine line between healthy mixing of colleagues of different sexes and the behaviour amounting to sexual harassment. The focus of this workshop is on the specific issue of sexual harassment at workplace – its prevention and redressal of complaints if it happens.

As part of the Community Connect Programme on 2nd December 2022, School of Education, Sharda University is organizing Student’s visit to NGO at Panchsheel Balak Inter College, a nodal centre named, Ghumantu Bacho Ki Pathshala in collaboration with Youth Rocks Foundation, Dehradun. Youth Rocks Foundation is a youth driven social impact nonprofit organization operating in Uttarakhand and nearby regions. The NGO focuses on providing holistic support to youngsters battling with multiple dangerous distractions of a modern life. Their mission is to improve quality of life and outcomes for youngsters and ensure that every youngster is able to fulfil their highest potential irrespective of their background or circumstances. B.A.B.Ed. Students of School of Education have stepped forward to provide volunteer work for this noble cause. Students will conduct a dengue awareness campaign. Dengue is currently affecting a significant portion of the population in India and is the vector-borne illness with the fastest global expansion. This programme is designed to increase awareness among the students of that NGO, since there is a dearth of awareness of the problem that affects so many individuals.
