Department of Art & Design Visit to Hunar Haat, Pragati Maidan (International trade fair towards crafts and heritage) @ Pragati Maidan

As a part of the teaching learning process towards crafts and heritage, a visit has been organized at Hunar Haat, Pragati Maidan on 22nd November from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

This visit will give an opportunity to experience the product modeling, display of exhibits and commercialization of art and craft materials with utmost precision and aesthetics in their making. It will also develop a sense of attachment to the artisans and local art of regional places.

Objectives of the Event:

  • To enhance the knowledge of artists for the progression of art and possibilities of design interventions.
  • To interact with artists and work out the possibilities for the benefits of the artist community by helping them to learn the new ways of development of art.

Through this workshop, we aim to make our students confident, to face the interviews, and be ready for the recruitment process. Through this workshop, we also aim to make the participants introspect, level up their skills as per the requirement of employers, and gain knowledge and self-confidence.

She is a Verbal and Soft Skills trainer and facilitator. A teacher by profession and Celta Certified Trainer. Currently working with Sharda University as a Verbal and Soft Skills Trainer. He is a Certified “Train the Trainer Level1 & Level 2” resource in the facilitation skills and Coaching & Mentoring program from the General Electric Learning Institute, in Stamford Connecticut, USA. He is also a Certified Instructional Designer and has created content for a wide gamut of Institutions and corporates alike other than being a Green Belt Holder in Six Sigma and Lean Management programs. Prasenjit is also a certified Soft skill Trainer, Communication Coach, and a Personality Development Expert spanning nearly a decade and a half with a specialization in “Accent Neutralization Skills”. School of Humanities and Social Sciences is organizing an online Creative Writing Workshop with Rochelle Potkar: Seeking the Poet Within on 23/11/2021 (Tuesday), from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The objective of the workshop is to foster creative thinking among students and appraise them about some contemporary poetic forms namely: free verse, haiku and haibun. Poetry is one of the genres that students pursuing BA (Hons.) English study in literature, though in variety of cultural contexts and forms. This workshop will enable students to not only gain knowledge that supplements the prescribed syllabus of English Literature but also provide an opportunity to indulge in creative writing process facilitating the achievement of the K6 of blooms taxonomy. The workshop is in alignment with the programme objective of BA (Hons.) English- PO 5 – Nurture of Creative Behaviour and NAAC criteria “1.1.3” that requires curriculum to include elements in the courses offered to foster creative writing.

The workshop is open to all poetry enthusiasts and will be conducted by internationally renowned poet and fiction writer of Indian origin, Rochelle Potkar.

Rochelle Potkar is an alumna of Iowa’s International Writing Program (2015) and a Charles Wallace Writer’s fellow, University of Stirling (2017). She is the author of Four Degrees of Separation and Paper Asylum – shortlisted for the Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2020. Her poetry film Skirt showcased on Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. Her poems To Daraza won the 2018 Norton Girault Literary Prize UK, and The girl from Lal Bazaar was shortlisted at the Gregory O’ Donoghue International Poetry Prize, 2018. As critic, her reviews have appeared in Wasafiri, Sahitya Akademi’s Indian Literature, Asian Cha, and Chandrabhaga. Widely-anthologized, she has read her poetry in India, Bali, Iowa, Macao, Stirling, Glasgow, Hongkong, Ukraine, Hungary, Bangladesh, and the Gold Coast, Australia. Her short story collection Bombay Hangovers released in 2021. Co-author of The Coordinates of Us/ सर्व अंशांतून आपण – a bilingual cross-translation of English/Marathi poetry. Her first screenplay ‘A Brown coat’ was a semi-finalist at the Atlanta Film Festival Screenwriting competition 2020.
